28 Apr iPads in the Music Classroom
We have had the pleasure of supporting the music curriculum at Whitburn Village Primary and East Boldon Junior School. Students took part in one of our newest workshop projects called ‘Cover Song’. We analyse, evaluate then recreate a popular song using digital instruments. A fun and contemporary approach to music education can be found in Garageband’s touch software.
The song is Ed Sheehan’s famous ‘Thinking Out loud’. This projects spanned 6 sessions and culminated in the final performances listed below. Onstage we have a software guitar, bass, strings, keyboards and piano. Pupils accompany a drum backing track and live choir. “My favourite performance was by East Boldon Junior. In the madness of preparing 30 software instruments I set the wrong scale for the guitar solo at Whitburn primary. This created an atonal solo, that was a bit too jazz even for me. Lesson learnt.”
